About us

During the Inauguration of the Tansman Festival, on 14 Nov 2014, it was announced that the Tansman Association for the Promotion of Culture was awarded the most important Polish prize for social activity: the Pro Publico Bono Prize of the 25th Anniversary of the Rebirth of Independent Poland. The initiator of the Prize and the first Chair of its Chapter (Jury) was Jan Nowak-Jeziorański, who conceived of the award as being the "Polish Nobel Prize for social work". The verdict of the Jury was announced on 11 Nov 2014 in Kraków. In 2005, the Tansman Association as the organiser of the Festival was presented the Pro Publico Bono First Prize in the category of "Culture and National Heritage". In 2011, the Association was awarded the Pro Publico Bono Mirosław Dzielski "Regional Activity for Solidarity" Prize for the whole of its social activities. The Tansman Association is the only non-governmental organisation from Lodz and its region to have been distinguished with the Pro Publico Bono Prize.

I've got familiar with the Tansman Festival. It may turn out even more important for me than making acquaintance with the very composer, whom I met in Paris. I've seen the inspiring festival, inspiring concerts and inspiring audience.

Right from the start it was a treat – the gala concert was first class! It was an unforgettable meeting with wonderful music conducted by a great maestro. The opening and closing banquets were really elegant and added to the atmosphere of the event. The idea of judging a musical personality and not only a technically perfect performance (as it is practiced at most competitions) is really unique.

The Tansman Competition stirs enthusiasm all over the world. When we got back to Paris many people from the musical circles kept asking us when the next competition was going to be held, willing to participate. The symphonic and chamber concerts in the framework of the Festival were a great success as well. The prestige of the event has been internationally growing ever since.
